Lip Blush Christchurch

Lip Blush Christchurch a.k.a lip tattoo.

Lip Blush in Christchurch has completely taken over the cosmetic tattoo industry. The pigments used to create your perfect shade have evolved significantly in recent years. Modern techniques and machines now allow for long-lasting colour, without odd tones appearing during the fading process.

People get lip blush for many reasons, including:

  • Correcting uneven, asymmetrical shapes

  • Achieving a natural makeup look without being overdone

  • Redefining lost lip lines due to overfilled lips

  • Redefining the lip line during the ageing process

  • Waking up with a nice blush colour and wearing less makeup

  • Brightening dull or pale lip colour

  • Neutralising or lightening darker lip shades

  • Reducing makeup bleed or wear-off

The Process of Lip Blush

We begin by going through consent and medical forms, taking photos, and discussing your desired end look. Bringing along a photo and your favourite lipstick for inspiration is always the best way to achieve your goal! We can match it to your blend of ink. Numbing cream will be applied at this stage. I’ll show you the pigment(s) and blend we’re creating, but I won’t spend too much time discussing this. It’s important to remember that tattoo pigment, especially on the lips, fades by 40%-50%, so the initial colour may appear very intense.

Consultations

These are complimentary and non-obligatory. This is the perfect time to discuss medications, desired colours, or looks. These factors are vital for achieving darker shades of lips you want to lighten or neutralise, as this can require very specific shades of ink. It’s essential to ensure we have the exact shades in stock at the time.

Pre-Draw

I spend a lot of time mapping the lips, which takes the longest time during the process. We will sit up and lay back down numerous times to ensure we are 100% happy with the precise outline we’ve drawn. Once we agree, we can start tattooing.

Feeling

Secondary numbing is applied as we proceed. The feeling isn’t too painful at all; the needles are tiny, and you have numbing cream on. I also apply numbing cream to the lips as I tattoo. Towards the end of the session, some clients may feel slightly restless, but there’s typically no significant pain. You’ll leave with some swelling and a bold colour that fades to about half of what you walk out of the clinic with.

You will receive a full aftercare bag and aftercare card, along with cream explaining how to care for your lips. I encourage you to text or email me with any questions—no question is silly. I’d prefer you ask rather than risk doing something wrong that could lead to infection.

The Healing Process After Lip Tattoo

Immediately after you leave, it’s important to avoid getting your lips wet. Lymph fluid may be present, and there are cotton pads in your aftercare bag for blotting this. This response from your body will stop after 5-12 hours.

You may take anti-inflammatories if needed.

Days 1-2: Applying the aftercare cream with cotton tips (not your fingers) ensures no infection can occur and helps the ink heal evenly. Not applying aftercare cream can lead to patchy ink, so this step is vital for the best results.

Days 3-5: Flaking will begin, and most swelling will have gone down. Your lips will start to feel hydrated. It’s crucial not to pick or peel any dry skin. If any scabbing occurs, keep it clean and hydrated with the cream. Avoid water during this period, but it’s normal for skin shedding to start now.

Days 5-8: Shedding will decrease, and you may feel regular chapped lips, with only thin layers flaking off. Just keep applying the aftercare balm. You might notice some pigment loss during this time, which is normal.

Day 10: Your lips should feel normal again! Many people feel they lose some saturation, which is also normal. This colour will return over the next three weeks. A touch-up will follow, which requires much less downtime than the initial appointment.

After your touch-up, you’ll be left with a beautiful colour! Most people (about 90%) will need a touch-up, which is normal for perfecting any areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it fade from the initial photos I see?
YES! This is the main concern people have about getting lip blush done; it will fade 40-50%!

“I’m worried it will look pink/not natural.”
This is common, which is why we offer touch-ups to perfect, darken, or soften the colour. We’ll consult thoroughly during the initial appointment to ensure the ink we select is perfect for your desired outcome.

Does it hurt?
The numbing cream makes it very comfortable. If you’re worried, you can consult a local pharmacist for a slightly stronger numbing cream.

How long will I be swollen for?
About 48 hours.

How long can I not get them wet for?
7 days. Drinking through a straw helps, and using a facial cloth when cleaning your face during this week is recommended.

Hopefully, this answers your questions about the process and healing time. Remember, consultations are complimentary and non-obligatory.
